•Discuss one social media platform and the way you use it to present a sense of self (whether that is a self that is curated and selective – a persona – or one that is more authentic).

One of my favorite social media is Facebook. Facebook allows us to share our daily life on the Internet, such as uploading some videos, photos and filling in our basic information. It allows us to roughly understand everyone’s birthplace, where they live, their current life status, whether they are in college or working. We can also recommend friends in the same place through these basic information, which can expand our social circle. It can also classify you into interest groups through the videos you usually browse and the people you pay attention to, where you can find many people with the same interests and create a discussion group with them to share your common interests. Let you know that you love life not only yourself.(Wall 2015, p. )

What affordances of the platform allow you to express this self on social media? Are there things this platform can do in establishing your sense of self that other platforms can’t?

Facebook is the world’s largest social media network with a very large number of active users. Facebook is the world’s leading photo sharing site. As of 2013, there were about 350 million photos uploaded every day. As of 2012, Facebook had 900 million users. By 2017, Facebook’s users had reached more than 2 billion customers. You can create your own special area, share your photos, personal interests and life in it, find and contact your friends and interact, play various online games, experience various applications and services provided by countless developers, and even conduct online transactions, The key is: everything in this is basically true, and everything in this is basically free.(Johnson 2009.)

Is there an intended audience for this self? What audience(s) do you think would find your social media presence accessible? (think domestic and international)

In my opinion, my target audience is my friends and classmates. When I am in China, I will share my daily, fitness, drinking, social and food. My friends and classmates will also publish similar trends on the Internet. We will pay attention to and communicate with each other, and finally get a praise! For international students, I can’t go to Australia due to the epidemic, so I can only watch the dynamics and daily life of Australian students through these social software. Sometimes I ask them about local life and entertainment projects, so I will also publish the notes of Australian life on my website, My friends also have a lot of people studying in Australia, so I hope they can have more discussions with me.
