The video content of this interview consists of three parts, each of which has a separate question. The first part is career planning. The video content he explained is based on his experience. In his opinion, when you want to determine your future lifelong career, you should try different professions and meet different people, so that you can clearly know what you want and what your job is. The first question is to describe an experience that influenced your future career. Accumulate different experiences to determine which industry you are interested in or can gain a deeper understanding of. For different national backgrounds and cultures, he believes that the most important thing is to put people first. As we all know, China is a human society, and the most important thing is the communication between people. For his industry, the most important thing is to communicate with partners or customers to promote and sell Baijiu. In other jobs, if one can have good communication methods and techniques with colleagues, clients, and even leaders, then they can naturally adapt well to work arrangements and changes. In the second part, my theme is attitude towards work. Then the question I raised is what do you think your strengths and weaknesses will have an impact on you in this huge industry. Through communication with him, we can learn that in any industry, your understanding and learning of this industry are indispensable. For example, his Baijiu industry, even though he has made such high achievements, still cannot meet the high standards of his heart for this industry, which is his own encouragement and also a high requirement for himself. We call him the spirit of craftsmanship. The so-called craftsman actually refers to the spiritual concept that craftsmen meticulously carve out their products. Its connotation is to strive for excellence, pay attention to details, be rigorous and focused, and be exquisite and specialized, which is commonly lacking in various industries in today’s impetuous society. There is an ancient Chinese saying that goes, ‘You need to love the industry you choose. Only if you wholeheartedly pursue the goals you want, can the results not be very bad even if they do not meet your standards for this industry.’.In the third part, the content explained is the significance of work. My question is, does your work contribute to society? For the vast majority of people, the primary reason for working is to meet their material needs. However, in the opinion of the interviewees, if you need to reach a higher level of satisfaction after meeting certain material needs, you need to learn to give back to society. Therefore, I specifically cited Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory to introduce this part of the content, which is also a difficult point for everyone to understand when watching interview videos. Let me briefly introduce it. The first problems that people need to solve are survival, food, water, and sleep. Then comes the issue of life safety, followed by the need to love and be loved. Next comes the recognition of dignity by others, and finally comes self actualization, which is becoming the person you want to be. In my opinion, most people wander between the third and fourth levels. Many people believe that the meaning of self actualization is to earn a lot of money, buy a great house or a great car, and then they will be satisfied. However, this short-term satisfaction will become empty after you reach it, but the satisfaction after giving back and helping society will make you very proud. We Chinese people have an ancient saying called ‘giving roses to others, leaving a lingering fragrance in our hands’. When you help or give back to society, you are also realizing your own life value. In the practical life of the interviewees, because in China, the number of people who drink Baijiu is extremely large, especially the 65-80 year old people who drink the most. So in his distillery, it is stipulated that elderly people over the age of 65 can come to the factory for free to drink. Not only that, he also solved the employment problem for young people. Because the distillery was built in a town in China, where the educational resources are not very excellent, most people choose to work outside, and the children left behind can only work in low-income jobs because they have not received much culture. And his appearance has solved the employment problem for these young people and is also a way of giving back to society.Through the entire interview, we can learn about a middle-aged Chinese entrepreneur’s initial suggestions for career planning, his understanding of work attitude in the middle, and finally how his ultimate goal of work has changed and influenced me. I also very much hope to find my own lifelong job and realize personal value in my future academic life, which is the significance this course brings to me.
